Beta Terms of Use

BETA TERMS — EFFECTIVE FROM THE PUBLICATION DATE SHOWN ABOVE
These Terms are the working rules for PokeCardr's early public beta. PokeCardr is still being built and tested. They are intended to give collectors clear, fair expectations now; the operator details and wording will be updated as the business, suppliers and launch plans are finalised. Professional legal review is a parallel launch action.
1. About PokeCardr
PokeCardr is an independent collection-management and information service for Pokémon trading-card collectors. It lets people search a card catalogue, view available market guides, record collections and wishlists, track set progress and, if they choose, appear in collector rankings. It includes a website Camera Beta, and native mobile applications and improved image recognition are planned.
PokeCardr is currently an early-stage beta project operated from the United Kingdom. In these Terms, “PokeCardr”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the person or future legal entity operating the service. The formal operator name and postal address will be added before paid services or wider commercial launch.
PokeCardr is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by or sponsored by Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc., The Pokémon Company or The Pokémon Company International. Pokémon and related names, characters, card artwork and trade marks belong to their respective owners.
2. Accepting these Terms
These Terms apply to the PokeCardr website, any PokeCardr mobile application and related features, emails and services. You may browse public catalogue information without an account. By creating an account, adding collection data, joining a leaderboard or otherwise using an account feature, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy and cookie notice.
If you do not agree, do not create or use an account. If you use PokeCardr for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for it.
3. Age requirement
You must be at least 13 to create a PokeCardr account. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to review these Terms and help you understand privacy, community profiles, card values and online safety.
PokeCardr is likely to interest younger collectors, so collection profiles are private by default and public participation is optional. Do not put your full name, school, home address, phone number or other contact details in a public display name or profile. If we reasonably believe an account holder is under 13, we may restrict or remove the account and its personal data.
4. Accounts and security
Give accurate registration information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password and devices secure. Tell us promptly at support@pokecardr.com if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
You may not create an account for another person without authority, impersonate someone, sell or transfer an account, or use multiple accounts to manipulate rankings. We may require reasonable checks to protect an account or investigate misuse, but PokeCardr does not guarantee that an account holder owns every card they record.
5. What the service provides
PokeCardr provides collection tools and informational guides. Features, catalogue coverage, languages, currencies, data sources, availability and device support may change during the beta. Some cards, variants, sets, images or values may be missing, duplicated or incorrectly matched.
PokeCardr does not buy, sell, grade, authenticate, insure or store physical cards. It is not an auctioneer, broker, financial adviser or professional appraiser. Unless a separate feature expressly says otherwise, PokeCardr is not a marketplace and users cannot complete card trades or payments through the service.
6. Your collection records
You are responsible for checking the card, printing, set, card number, language, condition, quantity, grading company, grade, purchase information and notes you enter. Similar cards and reprints can look alike. A catalogue match or scan suggestion is not a guarantee that a card has been correctly identified.
Your collection and wishlist are private by default. You decide whether to join account-only rankings and who may see your collector identity there. Private collection information is not shown to other collectors, although authorised PokeCardr personnel and service providers may process it to operate, secure and support the service as explained in the Privacy Policy.
7. Prices, values and population information
Any price, portfolio value, trend, sale record, population figure, currency conversion or other market information is an estimate or third-party guide. It may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, based on limited sales, or wrong. A displayed value is not an offer to buy or sell, a guaranteed sale price, an insurance valuation, tax advice, investment advice or a professional appraisal.
Card value can vary substantially with authenticity, exact printing, language, variant, condition, grade, grading company, certification details, seller reputation, fees, location, timing and demand. “Raw” and “graded” values are different data points and are shown separately where data is available. You must make your own checks before buying, selling, trading, grading, insuring or declaring a card.
Exchange-rate conversions are for convenience. They may not match the rate or fees applied by a bank, marketplace or payment provider.
8. Camera scanner and card matching
For signed-in collectors, the Camera scanner uses Scrydex image recognition by default to suggest catalogue matches from a card photograph or uploaded image. Selecting the Camera or image-upload control requests this service and sends a prepared image to Scrydex; collectors who do not want an image sent can use the manual catalogue search instead. You must review and confirm the match before adding it to your collection. PokeCardr may show alternatives and may decline to make a match.
Camera recognition is an account feature covered by these Terms and the Privacy Policy. You accept each current legal version once for your account; PokeCardr does not ask for a separate provider choice or consent for every image. Before transmission, PokeCardr re-encodes, resizes and compresses the selected card image, using the camera-guide crop where available; this removes embedded camera metadata. It sends only the prepared card image, a random request identifier and necessary technical request information. PokeCardr does not store the submitted image or raw Scrydex response. Scrydex may process the prepared image under its service terms and PokeCardr’s arrangements with it. A confirmation-only local check may suggest catalogue candidates only after Scrydex completes a request but cannot produce an exact catalogue match. If Scrydex, catalogue validation or a protected usage control is unavailable, the scan stops visibly and no lower-confidence result is substituted; manual catalogue search remains available.
PokeCardr transmits a prepared image only when a signed-in collector uses the Camera or image-upload control; merely accepting these Terms, browsing cards or using manual search does not send a photograph. Account-level and service-wide usage limits protect availability and cost. PokeCardr shows only provider results that it can revalidate against an exact catalogue set, number and language. You must review the candidates, confirm or correct the card variant where catalogue choices exist, and either confirm the physical card or record that none is correct before PokeCardr treats the outcome as reviewed.
All automated matches are probabilistic and may be inaccurate, incomplete or unavailable. A scan does not authenticate a card, assess condition, provide a grade, detect an alteration or counterfeit, or prove ownership. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for a purchase, sale, grading, insurance or valuation decision.
Only photograph cards and surrounding material you are entitled to submit. Avoid capturing faces, addresses, location details or other unnecessary personal information. If a future graded-card feature deliberately reads a certification number, that will be identified as part of that feature before transmission.
9. Ranking profiles, friends and privacy choices
Ranking participation is optional and rankings require a signed-in Basic or Master account. If you join, aggregate position and collection statistics appear on the board. You choose whether your collector name, profile picture and active gold PC badge are visible to all signed-in collectors or accepted friends only; other signed-in collectors see “Anonymous collector” in the same position when friends-only visibility applies. Your email, payment details, About Me, individual card list, notes and purchase prices are not part of the leaderboard. You can change visibility, remove your picture or leave at any time.
Friend connections use a random PokeCardr code rather than email-address search. Requests must be accepted. You can remove or block another collector; blocked relationships are not used to reveal ranking identity.
Do not use another person's name, a misleading identity, an unlawful phrase, personal contact details or trade marks in a way that suggests endorsement. We may reset or remove a display name to protect users, rights holders or the service.
10. Leaderboards and collection statistics
Leaderboards are community features calculated from collector-entered records. They may be filtered by Pokémon, card count, unique printings, raw guide value, graded guide value or another stated measure. Rankings are not proof of ownership, authenticity, wealth or expertise and may change whenever data, prices, privacy settings or calculation rules change.
Do not add cards you do not reasonably believe you own, inflate quantities, reuse scans to fabricate records or coordinate accounts to manipulate a ranking. We may exclude suspicious entries, correct calculations, request confirmation, remove users from a leaderboard or reset rankings. Unless separate promotion rules say otherwise, rankings do not award prizes and have no cash value.
11. Content you provide
You keep any rights you have in photographs, notes, display names, feedback and other content you submit. You give PokeCardr a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, process, transmit to a disclosed service provider and display that content only as needed to provide the feature you request, maintain proportionate backups, prevent abuse, give support and meet legal obligations. This licence does not transfer ownership of your content and ends when the content is deleted, subject to reasonable backup cycles and legal retention.
We will not use private collection photographs in public marketing or sell them as a dataset without your separate permission. If you choose to share content through rankings, you also permit PokeCardr to display it to the signed-in audience selected in your settings.
You confirm that you have the right to submit your content and that it is not unlawful, harmful, deceptive, defamatory, privacy-invasive or infringing. This confirmation does not transfer PokeCardr’s own legal responsibilities to you. Suggestions and general feedback may be used to improve PokeCardr without payment, but we will not claim ownership of your cards or private collection records.
12. Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law or another person's rights;
- attempt unauthorised access, probe security or bypass technical limits;
- introduce malware, disrupt the service or place an unreasonable load on it;
- scrape, copy or extract the catalogue, prices, images or user data at a harmful or commercial scale without written permission;
- reverse engineer protected parts of an app except where the law expressly allows it;
- automate accounts, searches, scans or collection entries in a misleading way;
- manipulate prices, rankings, analytics or community signals;
- upload unlawful, abusive, sexual, violent or otherwise unsafe material; or
- use PokeCardr to arrange fraud, counterfeit sales or other harmful activity.
Reasonable personal use of search and collection tools is welcome. If you want API, research or commercial access, contact us first.
13. Safety, reports and moderation
Report safety concerns, suspicious community profiles or harmful content to safety@pokecardr.com. Report intellectual-property concerns to legal@pokecardr.com. Provide enough detail for us to locate and assess the issue, but do not send unnecessary sensitive information.
We may review reported public content, remove or restrict material, preserve evidence, warn a user, limit features, suspend an account or refer serious matters to an appropriate authority. Moderation is based on the information available and may not always be immediate or error-free. Users can ask us to reconsider an account or content decision through support@pokecardr.com.
14. Suspension and termination
We may temporarily restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, rights holders, data providers, PokeCardr or the security and integrity of the service; investigate a suspected breach; comply with law; or respond to a material technical risk. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and give a reasonable opportunity to respond.
We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach of these Terms. We will not use this power to remove statutory consumer rights. You may stop using PokeCardr at any time.
15. Exporting and deleting your account
Signed-in collectors can download an account-data export through account controls. Self-service deletion requires you to type DELETE and may be unavailable while a provider-managed subscription is still live or when the secure deletion service is unavailable. You can always request access, correction or deletion at privacy@pokecardr.com. We may need to verify that the request relates to your account.
Deleting an account removes or de-identifies personal account and collection data from active systems, subject to reasonable backup cycles and information we must retain for security, dispute resolution or legal compliance. Published aggregate statistics may remain if they no longer identify you. Legal rights such as erasure are not absolute and are explained in the Privacy Policy.
16. PokeCardr and third-party intellectual property
PokeCardr owns or licenses its original software, branding, layout, databases and service content. These Terms give you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the service in accordance with these Terms; they do not transfer ownership.
Trading-card names, images, symbols, set information and other third-party material remain the property of their respective owners and may be displayed for identification, catalogue and collection-management purposes subject to applicable permissions and data-source terms. You may not extract or reuse that material merely because it appears in PokeCardr.
If you believe content infringes your rights, contact legal@pokecardr.com with the work or right concerned, the PokeCardr location, your contact details and the basis of your request. We may remove or restrict material while a claim is assessed.
17. Third-party services and links
PokeCardr relies on service providers for hosting, authentication, databases, storage, email, analytics, exchange rates and card or pricing data. It may link to marketplaces, grading companies or other sites. Third parties have their own terms and privacy practices, and PokeCardr is not responsible for their independent services or transactions.
Scrydex provides licensed graded values, deeper history and trends and is the provider used for signed-in Camera recognition. When a collector uses Camera or image upload, Scrydex receives the prepared card image for that recognition request. The scanner and Privacy Policy identify this processing.
Data-source names and update times will be shown where practical. Access to a source may change, be limited or stop, which can affect catalogue coverage, values or scanner availability. We will take reasonable care in selecting and integrating providers. This section does not exclude PokeCardr’s responsibility where the law makes us responsible for our own service or suppliers.
18. Free beta and future paid features
PokeCardr is currently offered free of charge while it is tested and improved. We may introduce optional paid subscriptions, advertising, marketplace features or other ways to fund the service later. We will not charge you without first showing the price, billing period, renewal and cancellation terms and obtaining the agreement required by law.
A future paid feature will have additional terms where needed. Free beta access does not guarantee that every existing or future feature will remain free.
19. Mobile applications and app stores
These Terms apply to PokeCardr mobile applications as well as the website. An app store's terms also apply to downloads, updates and store-managed purchases. The app store is not responsible for PokeCardr's content, support or operation except to the extent its own terms say otherwise.
Camera, photo-library and notification permissions will be requested only when relevant to a feature. You can manage device permissions in your operating-system settings, although disabling one may prevent that feature from working.
20. Availability, beta changes and backups
We aim to keep PokeCardr useful and available, but do not promise uninterrupted access, permanent storage or error-free information. Maintenance, security incidents, provider outages, data-source changes and beta development may interrupt or alter the service. Keep your own record of collection information that would be difficult to replace.
We may add, change or retire features. If a change materially affects account data or paid rights in future, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable and any remedy required by law.
21. Responsibility and consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your mandatory consumer rights.
PokeCardr is intended for personal collection management. We are not responsible for business losses. We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these Terms or that arise from your decision to buy, sell, grade, insure or value a card using guide information without making independent checks, except where the loss was caused by PokeCardr failing to exercise the responsibility or reasonable care required by law.
Because the beta is free and still being tested, you accept that features and data may contain errors. This does not remove any rights the law gives you in relation to a digital service.
22. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect new features, providers, risks, laws or business arrangements. The page will show the effective date and version. For a material change affecting account users, we will give reasonable notice in the service or by email and, where required, ask you to accept the new version. Previous versions will be recorded in the owner control centre.
23. Law, complaints and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in your home country that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Please contact support@pokecardr.com first so we can try to resolve a complaint. Nothing in these Terms prevents either party from using a court or another remedy available by law.
24. General
If part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer your account or rights under these Terms without our permission. We may transfer the operation of PokeCardr to a successor business provided this does not reduce your mandatory rights and users receive appropriate notice.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, cookie notice and any feature-specific terms, form the agreement about your use of PokeCardr.
25. Contact
Beta support and complaints: support@pokecardr.com
Privacy and data-rights requests: privacy@pokecardr.com
Safety reports: safety@pokecardr.com
Legal and intellectual-property notices: legal@pokecardr.com
These addresses are managed through one owner inbox during the beta. The formal operator name and service address will be added when the operating entity is finalised.
PokeBot with PokeCardr Master
PokeBot is included with PokeCardr Master. These account Terms cover its conversation, public card artwork inspection and current Pokémon research. There is no separate PokeBot feature agreement or feature selection to complete. You choose whether to use PokeBot; accepting the account Terms does not send a question or start a model request.
PokeBot can discuss cards, sets, artwork, collecting, games, anime and lore. It combines general model knowledge with the public card information and dated sources available for your question. For artwork questions it may inspect up to three matching catalogue images. For current topics it may search public websites and return source links with the date checked.
PokeCardr uses OpenAI to understand questions and write replies. The Privacy Policy explains the bounded question context, public evidence and catalogue images sent for this service. Private Vault holdings, notes and storage locations are not added to those requests. Do not type personal or confidential information into a question.
Card values and other quoted market figures come from dated card evidence. Model explanations and public web research do not become verified sales, price history or card valuations. Answers and interpretations can be incomplete or wrong. Check the exact card version, condition, source and date when using a guide. PokeBot does not authenticate or grade a physical card, provide a professional appraisal, promise a sale price or return, or give investment instructions.
Usage limits and service availability apply. Clear chat starts a fresh conversation and removes the previous questions, replies and card choices from the current session. It does not delete operational usage records or change the supplier retention described in the Privacy Policy. Material changes to processing will be explained through an updated account notice before they apply.
These changes do not start a paid subscription or change the free-beta status described above.
